Resident Profiles
Our diverse community includes people from all walks of life. We have many former military, government and public-service employees. Most of our residents value continual learning, and we encourage this through activities such as guest speakers and group outings to museums, the theatre or concerts. Our options for activities and housing are flexible because we aim to meet each individual’s needs. And while many wonderful and varied personalities make up our community, most are surprised to discover how much they have in common with others, and how quickly they make friends here.

How long have you lived here?
"We moved to Westminster in March 2004 from Vienna, Virginia where we had lived for 26 years."
What attracted you to Westminster? "We visited around 19 other communities in Virginia and around the country before choosing Westminster. There was something about the friendly nature of the community that attracted us."
Lives in:
A cottage home with two bedrooms, a den and a sun porch.
Activities:
Both George and Beth are very involved with life at Westminster. "We are both members of the Westminstrals Choir and George is a member of the Kitchen Band which performs all around the area. I am chair of the Resident's Health Committee which serves as a liaison between the residents and the Administration. I also started the Buddy Program which provides volunteers so caregivers can take some time off and am involved with the Diabetes Support Group and the Caregivers Support Group."
Enjoys: Playing Mahjong and Shanghi Rummy.
Career: George spent 35 years with the State Department and Beth was an Occupational Therapist. George's career took them to Angola, Lebanon, Ecuador, Argentina, and Mexico.
Current projects: Busy volunteering, traveling and enjoying their retirement. "One of the best things about living here is you can tell the front desk when you are leaving and feel safe traveling and not worrying about your home." Beth and George enjoy travling to Italy where their daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren live. They also have a son and daughter-in-law close by in Burke, Virginia and two grandchildren at college.
