One of the things about the community at Westminster at Lake Ridge that's most striking to visitors and most cherished by residents is the diversity of the individuals who together make up its heartbeat. They come from an astonishing range of personal and professional backgrounds and include retired educators and government employees; military personnel and their families; business leaders and owners of small businesses; medical and health care professionals and many others. They come together to create a highly energetic, connected community, taking care of themselves and each other. They're committed to lifelong learning, to living life well and to its fullest, to a high degree of social and intellectual involvement here at Westminster, and in the surrounding community.
"The best part of living here is the people and the associations with them. We are like one big family."

Lee and Vera Swann
“We particularly enjoy the people here. There is such a diverse group of accomplished people from all walks of life.”
Lee and Vera Swann can be thought of as citizens of the world. They have lead a life of service to others. Their commitment to education, literacy and social justice has been proven through their lifelong missionary work with the Presbyterian Church and their work with the civil rights movement.
Married for 60 years, this vibrant couple met in college and once married, formed a partnership that has seen an inspiring and rewarding life through their work in China and India. Upon graduating from Seminary in 1948, Lee quickly left for China where he served through the years of the revolution, a period that he recalls as being extremely interesting. The couple married upon his return and immediately left for India, celebrating their nuptials aboard a freighter en route to Bombay. Teaching at Christian College and starting a primer school based on the teachings of Gandhi were but a few of the exciting experiences the couple shared while serving in India. One of the most rewarding was the development of a new Christian program for drama, inspired by E. Martin Brown, a British theatre director, known for his production of twentieth century verse plays. The program turned out to be a resounding success with tremendous response from the Indian students.
“I have nothing but great things to say about the care at Westminster at Lake Ridge. Everyone there was exceptional, the nursing and therapy staff were wonderfully attentive to my needs. During my stay accommodations were even made for my meals.”
At 80 years young Marion Hauser can often be seen riding her bike on the quiet streets in and around Westminster at Lake Ridge. One of the important reasons she is able to remain so fit and active at her age can be attributed to the fine care she received at the Westminster at Lake Ridge Rehabilitation Clinic. Our highly-skilled Rehabilitation Department offers long and short-term rehabilitative care for our residents, as well as outpatient therapy. Our cutting edge therapy is designed to achieve quick recovery, so people can get back to living their everyday lives.
In Marion's case she was able to receive rehabilitative services on two occasions, once in June through July and again after knee surgery in October. In both cases she was back on her feet, and her bike in no time.
Marion is happy to talk about her experience. "I have nothing but great things to say about the care at Westminster at Lake Ridge. Everyone there was exceptional, the nursing and therapy staff were wonderfully attentive to my needs. During my stay accommodations were even made for my meals." She continues, " Even after my stay at the Rehabilitation Clinic at Westminster at Lake Ridge, the staff visits my home to follow up and make sure that my personal rehab work is going well and that I continue to improve." In fact, she made so many friends among residents and staff that she returns frequently to volunteer and entertain in the Health Center on the piano.
Marion Hauser is a good example of the kind of people that have found the care they need a and the quality care they deserve at Westminster at Lake Ridge.
